aftercARE.
Taking care of your tattoo is just as important as getting tattooed! Whether this is your first tattoo or you’re adding to an existing collection, proper aftercare is an important part of the tattooing process.
Your new tattoo is a healing wound, and how you care for it during the healing process plays an important role in its recovery and final appearance.
Please take the time to read through these instructions and follow them carefully. If you have any questions or concerns, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
Day 1-2
Keep your protective dressing on for 1-2 hours
Before cleaning your tattoo, always wash your hands
Wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel
Do not apply any aftercare. Just wash twice a day morning and evening
Avoid exercise as your tattoo will be tender and swollen
Day 3-7
Keep washing your tattoo twice a day, morning and evening
Exercise allowed however, make sure you clean the tattoo straight after you sweat
Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
Once your tattoo is clean and dry, apply a very thin layer of the aftercare cream
Avoid applying too much cream. Your skin should not be left feeling excessively greasy or coated.
Day 7-14
As your tattoo begins to heal, you may notice:
Dryness and tightness.
Peeling or flaking skin.
Mild itching.
A dull or cloudy appearance as the skin heals.
These can be normal parts of healing. Please resist the temptation to scratch, rub, peel or pick at your tattoo.
Allow any flaking skin to come away naturally.
Things to Avoid
While your tattoo is healing, please avoid the following:
Swimming & soaking
Avoid swimming pools, the ocean, spas, baths and other activities that involve soaking your tattoo until it is fully healed.
Sun exposure
Keep your healing tattoo out of direct sunlight. Once it has healed, protect it with broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and suitable clothing.
Scratching & picking
Do not scratch, pick, peel or pull at your tattoo, even if it becomes itchy or starts flaking.
Excessive friction
Avoid tight clothing or anything that repeatedly rubs against your tattoo.
Unnecessary touching
Keep your tattoo clean and avoid letting other people touch it while it is healing.
